Stone Flooring – A Naturally Healthy Choice!

February 09, 2017   |   By

Natural stone floor tiles have always been popular for use in commercial buildings and residential properties thanks to their robust and hardwearing nature. They look fabulous, age well and give a timeless quality everywhere they are used.

Stone Flooring A Naturally Healthy Choice

Lots of our customers choose exterior stone flooring to improve paved areas, gardens and patios but you can also use stone floor tiles inside the home in hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories, orangeries and boot room
As well as being a wonderful option for quality, style and beauty, natural stone floor tiles are also a hygienic choice.

Did you know…

One square metre of carpet can contain up to 100,000 dust mites!

These tiny creatures (part of the spider family) don’t bite or transmit diseases but what they produce can be a real problem for allergy sufferers. Simply walking on a carpet or vacuuming releases the dust mite debris into the air.

The popularity of double glazing and central heating means that our homes have become breeding grounds for the tiny dust mite. So taking away one of their favourite places to be makes a lot of sense.

Carpets can contain up to 100 times more allergens than hard floors as they attract and retain dust, grime, bacteria, pet and dust mites… so they’re not a good choice for people with respiratory problems or who suffer with allergies as they can result in coughing and sneezing. To reduce this risk, one of the best things you can do is to remove carpets and replace them with smooth flooring such as natural stone tiles.
Stone floor tiles are naturally resistant to harbouring bugs so for people with sensitive immune systems, the young and the old, they’re a very sensible choice.

When you have small children (who spend a lot of time on the floor!), being aware of the facts can help you make the right decision about the best choice for your home.

Choose interior stone flooring and you’ll also save yourself time and energy. Limestone is easy to clean, low maintenance and stain resistant. Our natural stone floor tiles are incredibly versatile, too – which other flooring can you use in almost any room in the house? Wooden floors and carpets have never been practical choices for wet rooms or bathrooms. Sealed limestone tiles, however, are ideal. It’s fair to say that we don’t yet supply many for bedrooms but we could!

Keeping your natural stone flooring in good condition is easy. All you need to do is sweep with a soft brush and use a mop now and then to protect your floor and keep your natural stone floor tiles looking wonderful.

We stock a recently expanded range of natural stone and limestone floor tiles that will harmonise with your home, whether you’re seeking a smooth, seamless finish or a naturally aged appearance.

So if you’re looking for a hygienic alternative to carpets, just ask our expert team about the best solution for your home. We’re here to help.
